Since 1997, Canada Blooms: The Flower and Garden Show has welcomed over 500,000 visitors and donated almost $300,000 to community horticultural projects. Produced by The Garden Club of Toronto and Landscape Ontario, Canada Blooms is the largest flower and garden show in the country, celebrating the best in Canadian gardening and floral design. Canada Blooms was incorporated in 1997 as Canada Blooms Horticultural Society, a not-for-profit organization. Its mission is to create a yearly international flower and garden show which enhances and promotes the awareness of horticulture by featuring the best designs, products and services of amateur and professional participants, including an extensive education series. The first Canada Blooms was held in 1997 and proved that Canadian gardeners were ready to support a world-class flower and garden show. Attendance exceeded expectations with over 70,000 visitors in 5 days - a record for a first-time show. In 1998, Canada Blooms moved to the new Metro Toronto Convention Centre South Building, and attendance grew to a spectacular 110,000. Canada Blooms has grown into one of Toronto's most successful events, drawing volunteers, visitors and participants from all across Canada and the United States. Already a popular destination with tour groups, gardeners from Bermuda, France, the United Kingdom and the Unites states now rank Canada Blooms as one of the top five shows of its kind. Over 1000 volunteers help to create Canada Blooms and the horticulture and floriculture industries support the show generously. There are approximately 250 exhibitors, including 35 Feature Gardens as well as leading garden centres, equipment and accessories vendors, florists and designers, educational and horticultural organizations. Canada Blooms has set a benchmark for excellence in Canadian horticulture and floriculture and has generated unprecedented media coverage for an event of this kind.
